The Life of a Fangirl Blogger





In life, it is a common thing to adore someone and make them our idol. Usually, when we become a fan of someone, we also feel we have to know their activity, it is the same as well with my college classmate that I have interviewed, Yasmina Namira. Yasmina has been idolizing Taylor Swift since she was in elementary school and she used Tumblr as her platform to express her fangirling.


Tumblr is an American microblogging that allows users to post multimedia including images, GIFs and text posts that is conducive to obsessive fandoms. As a fangirl, Yasmina has some reasons that make her enjoy using Tumblr.

The feeling of being connected with other people is a natural traits for us as a social human being. In Yasmina's case, she really likes using Tumblr because she feels connected with Taylor Swift and also the other fans.

"I did feel like so much satisfaction from tumblring because I can keep in touch with people that love Taylor as much as I did and it is just fun," explained Yasmina as I asked her why did she really loves Tumblring about Taylor Swift.

Yasmina also said that Taylor Swift has always been extremely interactive with her fans on Tumblr, not only does she reblog (in Tumblr, reblog means repost) their content about her, but she also engages with their personal Tumblr as well. Those things really makes her fans happy because just like the other fans, Yasmina knew that Taylor really respects her fans by giving them a feedback. Yasmina also make friends with another Taylor's fans in Tumblr, they sometimes would message, reblog each other and reply other comments.

When it comes to expressing opinion, Yasmina mostly only expressing something that is related to Taylor Swift in her Tumblr. She prefers to never use Tumblr to express her feelings, but she only use it to post Taylor's activity like what Taylor wore to the Grammys, AMA, her songs, her music videos, news about her and everything that are related to her. Especially when there will be an upcoming of Taylor's new album, Taylor in her Tumblr often guessing the easter eggs clues that she leaves for fans which announce new albums.

"With the other fans, we usually working up a theory about her new album using the clue and information that Taylor just left in her Tumblr," declared Yasmina.

Besides finding a new theory about Taylor's album, Yasmina also loves to interpret and analyse lyrics in Tumblr about who is each song about on Taylor's album.

All in all, Yasmina as a fan of Taylor Swift really enjoys her blogging experience in Tumblr. For not only it just beneficial for Yasmina, but for the other fans and Taylor Swift as well. It gives her satisfaction to connect with the idol and the fans, also as a platform for her to express her opinion about Taylor Swift.

    I really like with your blog layout, it looks good and well-created compared to blogs that I saw before. Coming from a guy who doesn't really know much about blogging hehe.

    As for the content, I thought it is nice and comprehensive. I get your ideas and I think it is interesting to see a person using tumblr as their platform to write on the internet, because I thought tumblr is a place where you can only post romantic quotes.
