A few days ago, I hung out with a closest friend of mine. As usual, we talked a lot of things at that time. Not long after, he invited me to the bakery ingredients shop. As we entered the shop, I just realized that the day was Valentine's Day because the store sells lots of chocolates with all-pink and red decorations. They also sell a lot of cake topper that reads "Happy Valentine's Day." I thought we would hang out like most couples when celebrating Valentine; a fancy dinner, exchanging chocolates, etc., but apparently, he wanted us to celebrate it by baking together. I was just, wow.
Long story short, we were baking together in his house. His mother also helped us prepare the tools. While baking, suddenly Ma'am Anik's face flashed in my mind as if to remind me to immediately interview someone. Without waiting too long, I asked my friend to be my interviewee.
"Have you ever had a blog? I asked.
While making whip cream he replied, "Yes, I told you. But, at that time, I was forced to write a blog,"
He told me that he had two blogs. One belongs to him personally, another is a blog owned by the school. He was once assigned to manage the blog with his partner. At that time, he was part of the school radio community, where he was the announcer, and the blog was a place where a one-day broadcast summary had to be posted.
So, aside from being a school radio announcer, he and his broadcast partner were also forced to summarize all the broadcast material that day and write it on a blog titled "Catatan KOSAYU FM".
The contents of the material vary, as the programs they have also vary. There is 'Kritik Sastra'; where the program discusses short stories and poems and there is also Holy Grace. This program is a program that broadcasts life motivations, and spiritual matters. Because the school is a Catholic school, the motivations they broadcast will be correlated with Bible verses.
When I asked what the difficulties were in writing a blog, he said that he had difficulty in decorating the blog and choosing the good and right words in making reading content. He acknowledged that he was a person who was less creative so he had difficulty in dealing with artsy things. According to him, these two things must be balanced, because good content without interesting decor will not make the blog comfortable to read. Here he is demanded to be more creative, even though in fact he is not.
In addition to the difficulties he faced, he also benefited quite well from writing a blog, among which he felt his writing skills improve over time, and his vocabulary also increased, since they should write this blog in Indonesia, English, and Mandarin.
However, if asked to continue to write a blog, he will answer that he does not want to because he has no passion for writing. "I don't want to be forced to write, because that's not my passion," he said.

DeleteSorry Elis, it was Alika using my account 🙂
DeleteWhoaa, what an interesting activity you guys had on valentines day!! It must be really fun to had a bake together.
ReplyDeleteHere are my corrections for your blog posts:
1. The usage of "because" in the beginning of the sentence of "Because the school is a catolic school" can be replaced using "fanboys" conjunction of "so". This is my recommendation:
"Since his school is a Catolic school, so the motivations they broadcast will be correlated with Bible version."
2. You can also combine your sentence in the 4th paragraph like this:
"There is 'Kritik Sastra'; where the program discusses short stories and poems and there is also Holy Grace; a program that broadcasts life motivations and spiritual matters."
Well, I guess that's it. Overall, I think you really have a good writing! Looking forward to another post from your blog and also your feedback :) Thankyou.
