A Content Writer who Doesn't Do Blogging

by Shena Lova

Afrieza Zaqi, a content writer of DBL Indonesia, has made a blog once and posted one writing on his blogger for the sake of individual assignment when he was studying at Universitas Airlangga. He posted a story of recent news at the moment. His blog had been left behind after the blog assignment was submitted.

Blogging has never been his ‘thing’ and he isn't really into it. That is why he has just posted once on his personal blog. However, writing and journalism has always been his passion since high school. He has been a journalist since he was in 2nd grade of high school. Zaqi, his nickname, started to work in Jawapos as a reporter of the youth rubric. He has written numerous news articles on the company website and newspaper.

“I write article and soft news, but I don’t do blogging. It is not my ‘thing’,” he declared.

When I asked him why he doesn’t do blogging, he stated that he has another platform to share and publish his writing. The company he works on provides it. It is zetizen.com, a youth rubric by Jawapos. He produced and published countless articles such as music trends, up-to-date movie, sneakers, and many other youth-things on zetizen.com 2 years ago.

Then he moved to another youth platform, mainmain.id from early 2018 until now. mainmain.id is a commercial website news owned by DBL Indonesia which features relatable content among teenagers. Zaqi writes movie reviews, travel articles, automotive, tips and tricks, etc. almost everyday. Thus, he never quite did blogging for himself.

“Moreover, my job is a content writer. Indeed, I write, but for mainmain.id. So, I’ve never quite write on a blog,” he added. “If writing movie review and tips and tricks for commercial websites count as blogging, then I’m in”

  1. I find the title interesting because as far as I know, people who like writing, especially those who work as a content writer, usually have their own blogs or at least tempted to make one.

The content is concise, which is great. However, I found some inconsistencies in the grammar and it makes the writing slightly confusing imo. Other than that, things are great!

Ey yo, my fish members! I think we are kind of late on making the discussion report for the midterm on the class blog since we were too focused on discussing through WhatsApp, but it's better than no discussion at all, right? Now that we are incredibly close to the midterm, there are some aspects that we need to discuss: 1. The platform that we will use to post the articles for the midterm, 2. The title and description, plus what will we cover in our blog, 3. Dividing the tasks, who is responsible of which, 4. The drafting, editing, and publishing process, and 5. The visual design of the blog. Come and go, let's merry the comment sections with our discussions! Member of the group: Anisatul I Ayu Triananingrum Danti P. Sukma Tsania N. Muthoharoh
