What Makes Blogging Such a Fun Activity to Do

The way that I can do to share my experiences is blogging
that's what she told me when I asked her why she blogs.

This morning, I had a little conversation with my classmate, Maulidina Marlita. I was curious about what makes her interested in blogging. She said that the very first time she started blogging was during her middle school year. Song lyrics and short stories were her favourite things to write. The reason why she found it fun to blog is because she loves to write. Furthermore, she can post whatever she wants to write. That’s what makes her keep blogging up to this time. She also got a lot of questions from people who know her, about what books does she recommends to read, or what activity does she do in her part-time jobs. Therefore, she decided to write about books and her activities in her blog.

She also shares about the most frustrating aspect in blogging. Since she’s been busy with her part-time jobs and college stuff, it’s a bit hard for her to find the right time to write. She also explained the time that she posts depends on what event, job, or sometimes competition that she participates. However, she usually posts once every two weeks. Her passion in writing and also her willingness to learn something new, made her easier to write in a blog since blogging isn’t only about writing.

She thinks that blogging has some advantages, for instance when she regularly posts her writings, her rank in the website goes up, which means she earns money from that platform. I also wondered what social media strategy is best for getting more readers or visitors in a blog, so I asked her opinion about this. But, she doesn’t think that social media is the best strategy, due to the fact that what empowers her the most is by joining a community. A community that she talked about is Malang Citizen, which is a blogger community based in Malang. It is really helpful for her, owing to the fact that they provide information not only about the platforms but also about job vacancy and events. In addition, she also found that the people in that community are quite energetic and love to share. Those are the reasons why she feels comfortable.

As a beginner, I wanted to know what things are the most important that will make the readers enjoy reading our blog. According to her, the first thing that the readers will notice is the title. We need to make sure that the title is catchy enough that makes the readers want to read more. The second one is the headings, lines of information that let the readers know what the next paragraph of the blog is about. The next is, the responsiveness of the author (us). From her experience, her blog could only be read through laptop or PC. Thus, she was being responsive and fixed it so that the readers can read it through their phones as well. The last but not least, the images. Because it can help people to retain the information better and also can make our blog not boring to read. Therefore, there are 4 basic essentials that we need to learn when we start blogging, according to her.

  1. It's a great blog post. The title of the blog represents the content of the post. As a beginner, I can learn new things from your writing. However, I found grammatical error. It is in the first paragraph (sentence 9). I think if you did not intend to make a question, you can erase the word "does" and add s/es after the verb.
