Personal Branding in Blogging

Having this assignment in mind, I decided to interview one of my friends who enjoys coffee and loves writing about them in a blog. Ratna Widi Astuti or Mbak Ratna is an undergraduate student from Universitas Negeri Malang. As a starter, she has chosen a career in Digital Marketing in Jakarta. Despite her work choice, she always eager to write and share anything that comes to her mind.

I started the interview by asking questions related to her background and focus on blogging. At the beginning of her blog, Mbak Ratna loves to simply write and share ideas. As time passed by, she finds herself to also enjoy writing articles about coffee shops, personal opinions, and book reviews. While working as Digital Marketing, she also intends to be a Content Writer using her blog as a platform in personal branding.

Personal branding, as she sees it, is significant to be included as a portfolio. It also serves the important in promoting herself by constantly providing the blog posts. Starting the blog as a hobby, she keeps on writing and planning to make a novel. With the project at hand, Mbak Ratna intends to improve the design of her blog even further and promote the blog through social media even more.

In the last session of the interview, she told me that it is good to be a self-starter. Sharing information and experience is the key to keep a blog alive. Similar to her experience as a beginner in blogging, not so many people read her writings. However, a blog's worth cannot be judged solely on the reader's percentage. As long as one remains passionate about writing, it is only a matter of time for the blog to expand.

Briefly, blogging can be used for many things. It is not only limited in writing and providing information but as a means to promote oneself. Building a good image in blogging can help the writer to pursue a career in the writing-related-job field.

  1. After I read Annida's blog, I found something interesting. Personally, Mbak Ratna's idea about her content is quite rare since most blogger posting about their personal experiences. Here, she mentions if her contents are mostly about coffe shop, her opinion and book review. Moreover, Annida explain her interview with understandable sentence that makes me easy to get the point.
Then, I just found a mistake, but still it doesn't change the whole meaning of her explanation. I found it in the sentence "At the beginning of her blog.." it is better if she changes it with "As she starts writing her blog,...". So far, it is great!

Why Staying at Home is The Right Thing to Do and How to Enjoy It

Why Staying at Home is The Right Thing to Do and How to Enjoy It With the pandemic of coronavirus (COVID-19), we are required to do physical distancing by staying at home during these times. This means that we can not go outside and do our routine as before because we may risk spreading or being infected with the coronavirus. Staying at home right now is surely boring for most of us, but we must realize that it is actually the right thing to do. Here is why. First of all, staying at home protects yourself and the others from the infection.
