I interviewed my high
school friend who had a blog account. She created it to spend her leisure time during high school
holiday. However, the blog is not used for daily journals like people usually
do, and she has a unique reason.
Last week we learned
three tips to blog from Mr. Rob Thomson, and one of them is to never start blogging for
money. The case for my friend though she created her blog for that particular
reason. The blog is a free download web for movies and dramas. It is created to
help people get access to download Chinese drama, Korean drama, and movies. The reason she chose distributing movies freely through Blogger is because people love to watch movies and always spend their time on the internet.
I help people, too. Why is it bad?
Although her intention at
first was to start blogging to get money, she did not directly do that just
yet. She uploaded dramas and movies which are hard to find from other websites
into her blog. When she gained enough visitors, she then thought that is the
right time to get money from the blog.
She used several AdSense
by redirecting link. When the blog visitor wants to download a movie by clicking the download button, the link will divert to another page, so you have to go back and click several times to get to the right page. Every 1,000 clicks, she
would get several dollars (she forgot the exact amount) and the money will be
transferred to her PayPal account.
Another ad she used is Google AdSense. This
kind of ads is easy to find in other websites as well, usually at the bottom of
the web and about poker or gambling. And note that to use Ads, the owner of the
blog should be at least 18 years old.

Her way of promoting to
get many visitors and high traffic on her blog is by commenting on other
people’s blogs and using SEO (Search Engine Optimizer). She knew that the first way could annoy other users, but she had to do it.
You have to do every way possible to promote your products, otherwise you won't get money.
By a
year, the money she could get was around 2.5 million rupiahs.
She found committing to
the blog is quite hard as to render one episode of a drama could take an hour
or more. By the last year of high school she did not have time to do it
again. It is quite a pity because she thought blogging was a good investment for her, especially
with Kominfo has closed down illegal streaming websites early this year, she might get more
visitors and money. Well, that is if Kominfo has not closed down hers.

I really liked what you wrote about. Wow, I didn’t know giving out film freebies could make that much money... I learned something new by reading your post. Thanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteMy critique would be that you should pay attention to some of the sentences that you write. I found a few grammatical mistakes here and there.. maybe if you had read your blog a couple of times before publishing it, you might have not made that mistake. Nonetheless, t’was a good blog. Keep it up!
